Have you ever read The Healthy Home Economist blog?? Great web site with video instruction..very clear and inspiring!
I have read that blog yes!
Hi there! Congrats on your ongoing success! I came to your site today after speaking to my daughter, Lindsay, who teaches Phys. Ed. with Ryan at Sandalwood Heights. As I am sure you probably know, they talk regularly re healthy eating and fitness. I have some health issues and weight to lose and need to be eating in a healthier way. Linds suggested I check out your blog and I am now investigating the Paleo way of eating. Just wanted to say hello. Again, congrats with your success and progress. Is there a book or series of articles in particular that you would recommend I start with???
Thanks, Barb Watson
Hi Barb! I am so glad you are here!
I can think of a few resources. I own and love the book Practical Paleo (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1936608758?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creativeASIN=1936608758&linkCode=xm2&tag=fresh4five-20) It is a great resource. I also own the digital version of 30 Day Guide to Paleo (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1936608499?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creativeASIN=1936608499&linkCode=xm2&tag=fresh4five-20)
(those are my amazon affiliate links, but the books are available in stores also.)
I have found great success with the auto-immune paleo protocol. It is a more restrictive version of paleo meant to heal and help with auto-immune conditions. For me my allergies and thyroid issues. Website is such a great place to get information. She also has a new book out which I do not own yet.
I didn’t start out doing the auto-immune protocol…it was sort of the last step in my journey. If I could go back and start over I would just do it right away, be really strict for 30 days and then see what foods I could add back in to my diet. It would have saved me a lot of time. However making change is never easy and baby steps are often the least painful way of making change.
The 21 Day Sugar Detox is also a great resource. That book has 3 levels (you don’t have to be paleo in level one) and it focuses on removing sugar from your diet and the cravings. It really restricts carb veggies and fruit. It is not a program to do long term, but more of a cleanse. I am sure you would feel awesome after doing it and lose some weight. It is a real boost to my system in a positive way each time I do it. However I would suggest starting with just normal paleo or AIPaleo in the beginning and see how that improves your health.
I hope I was helpful! please feel free to ask if you have any questions
